I grew up learning at a fairly young age to operate tractors and heavy machinery, to milk cows, to fix diesel engines, and other such skills. I have friends and family members that fix old cars, renew antique furniture, make stunning pottery mugs (and espresso cups for me), do extreme sports and more.
Some of these activities are used for making a living, while others are simply for the joy of it. All are life skills.
There are many discussions about AI these days, and everyone including me has something to say. Leaving aside when and how to use AI, it’s clear that each one of us needs to learn how to use it correctly wherever it’s needed.
Usage of AI tools is now becoming a life skill, just like driving a car or using our mobile devices.
For B2B SaaS implementation leaders it means a few things:
- When we hire – I would look for people that know their way around a well written prompt, not necessarily ones that used specific tools. A life skill.
- When we oversee projects – do the project managers understand the limitations of AI, do they understand implications of data quality? A life skill.
- When we communicate – do we understand the impact of AI on messaging, internally or with clients? Do we know when the human voice, even lacking perfectly polished grammar, must take over? A life skill.
AI is introducing new tools and capabilities daily, it opens many paths and new directions, we need to adopt new life skills to help us navigate these roads successfully. A wrench in one hand, Claude in the other.
